In recognition of tomorrow (Friday, March 30th) as National Doctors’ Day, the Fort Drum Regional Health Planning Organization (FDRHPO) and the North Country Initiative would like to thank all the dedicated, talented physicians serving Jefferson, Lewis and St. Lawrence county patients – including those serving Fort Drum soldiers and families.
The two agencies also invite members of the community to get involved by honoring a local physician who has inspired them or made an impact on their health or the health of a family member.
The easiest way to do so is to thank a physician in person! Let your doctor, dentist, or specialist know why you appreciate them at your next appointment. Community members can also share their stories on social media, using the hashtag “#HonorAPhysician,” or send their testimonies to the American Medical Association Foundation by clicking here.
“Our region is home to some of the finest medical professionals in the state, and we often see the work of our doctors impacting other healthcare institutions across New York and even nationwide,” said Tracy L. Leonard, FDRHPO’s Deputy Director and Regional Workforce Lead. “We are very grateful for all of the North Country’s doctors, and to those currently training to become doctors.”
To continue building our region’s supply of quality doctors, FDRHPO and the North Country Initiative have awarded approximately $2 million to healthcare facilities in our region for recruitment and retention efforts since 2015. These funds have helped bring nearly 20 physicians to the North Country.
