winter retreat

The 4-H Youth Development program at Cornell Cooperative Extension of Jefferson County will host a Military Teen Winter Retreat on Saturday February 24, 2018 at 4-H Camp Wabasso.

This free event is open to any military youth between the ages of 12-18. The one-day retreat will consist of fun, hands-on activities like snowshoeing, archery, skijoring demonstrations, and more — all surrounded by the beautiful Camp Wabasso scenery.

Besides meeting new friends and enjoying the winter activities, military teens will also learn how to join the New York National Guard Teen Council. The New York National Guard Teen Council is comprised of military and non-military affiliated teens who advise and assist the New York National Guard Youth Coordinator(s) and Family Program Staff in matters relating to family readiness to include youth.

The National Guard Teen Council is always seeking applicants and welcomes teens to hone their leadership and communication skills as part of this youth-led group.

Lunch, snacks, and beverages will be provided during the retreat, but youth are encouraged to bring a refillable water bottle.

Participants will meet at the Cornell Cooperative Extension office in Watertown at 9:15 a.m. and be transported to Camp Wabasso for the day. At the end of the day, participants will be returned to Cornell Cooperative Extension for pick-up no later than 4:15 p.m.

If you have any questions or would like to sign up for this event, please contact Kaci Evans at kg465@cornell.edu or 315-788-8450 to receive a registration packet. Availability for this one-of-a-kind experience is limited, so contact Kaci today!
