River Hospital‘s 28th Annual Polar Bear Dip will take place on Saturday, February 24, at Bonnie Castle Resort and Marina in Alexandria Bay. This annual event is organized by Friends of River Hospital and is one of the leading fundraisers of the year for the hospital.

This year’s Polar Bear Dip will help the hospital reach its fundraising goal to make its Hope + Healing capital project a success. The Hope + Healing Campaign is the blueprint for River Hospital’s future, and will bring significant upgrades to: the Emergency Department, Physical Therapy, Veterans and Soldiers’ Services, Primary Care, Mental Health, and Radiology.

In July, the hospital received a state grant of $9.5 million, but a $4 million match is required to make the project happen. To date, the hospital has raised just over $3.2 million, and is asking for the public’s help in closing the gap. If at least $75,000 is raised at this year’s Polar Bear Dip, the new elevator in the renovated medical office building will be dedicated to the 2018 Polar Bear Dippers!

If you are interested in dipping, the minimum donation amount is $100. Several individuals and teams raise well over that amount per person.

All dippers are encouraged to get creative with their fundraising — many hold fundraising dinners, breakfasts, or bake sales, and some even send letters requesting donations from their friends and family members. Interested dippers can now raise money using GoFundMe.com by clicking here. Just search for River Hospital in Alexandria Bay, NY, to begin your campaign.

Registration opens at 9:00 a.m. on February 24th and dipping begins at 1:00pm. For more information, call River Hospital at 315-482-1270 or visit www.riverhospital.org.
