The Fort Drum Regional Health Planning Organization is now accepting applications for its Medical Academy of Sciences and Health – or “MASH” – Camp.
MASH Camp is a unique opportunity for students entering grades 8-12 to experience and explore the healthcare field in an interactive way. By participating in hands-on activities that highlight various career opportunities, students will learn about the educational requirements, skills, typical job duties and personal qualities of specific healthcare professionals.
Additionally, involvement in MASH Camp increases student awareness and understanding of the hospital setting and provides students the opportunity to network with healthcare professionals in their community to build long-term mentoring relationships.
Each session will help answer questions and provide students with a path to explore their career options in depth. Regardless of hospital placement, each day will be different and provide interesting, thought-provoking exercises and real-life experiences.
All MASH Camp sessions run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and camp dates by location are as follows:
- Carthage Area Hospital: February 20-22, 2018
- Lewis County General Hospital: February 21-23, 2018
- River Hospital: February 19-20, 2018
- Samaritan Medical Center: February 20-22, 2018
